The ongoing season of Big Bash League (BBL) has witnessed some spectacular catches thus far. However, during the clash between Melbourne Renegades and Adelaide Strikers on Monday (December 22), the duo of Ben Laughlin and Jake Weatherald took the fielding standard to a different level altogether.

While chasing Strikers’ target of 174, Renegades were tottering at 99 for 4 after 15 overs. Needing 75 more runs in just 30 remaining balls, ace all-rounder Dwayne Bravo decided to take a chance in the 16th over.

In 16.2 overs, Afghanistan’s spin sensation Rashid Khan delivered a leg break which was pumped over the off-side by Bravo. However, Renegades’ speedster Ben Laughlin remarkably managed to grab it while running. As the momentum was taking him over the boundary ropes, Laughlin exhibited a great deal of composure and threw the ball back in the air where Jake Weatherald was alert and dived a bit to his left to complete the formalities.

Watch Laughlin and Weatherald’s stupendous effort below:

Adelaide Strikers eventually won the contest won by 26 runs as Bravo perished for only 4 off 3 deliveries. It was Strikers’ 6 win in 8 matches and they are currently slotted at number two in points table after Perth Scorchers, who have won 7 out of 9.
