Legendary West Indian cricketer –Michael Holding admitted that Indian skipper Virat Kohli is a fantastic batsman across the format, but at the moment, he doesn’t consider him amongst great players, saying he needs to score in England to prove himself as a great player in the world.

However, the dashing right-hander is considered as one of the best batsmen across the format of the game in the world, but Windies fast bowling great wants to see more consistency in Kohli’s batting.

The Men in Blue are scheduled to tour England in June 2018 to play five Tests and 5 ODIs while lone T20I, and it will be a great chance for the 29-year-old to make his mark against Joe Root’s men.

Speaking to the Mumbai Mirror, Michael Holding said, “Virat Kohli is a fantastic batsman. I was asked to name three top cricketers and I included Kohli in that list. He is a very, very good player. When I see him score runs in England, I would call him a great player.”

He also added that South Africa's AB de Villiers is not in his list of the best player of the Test cricket, including only Kohli, Root and Steve Smith.

Holding signed off by saying, “I like people who score runs everywhere. He is an extremely good player. The three cricketers I think are the best now are Joe Root, Virat Kohli, and Steve Smith. AB de Villiers has just come back into Test cricket and let’s see how he does. I don’t want to include him yet in that list.”
