Australian cricketer, Steve Smith may get in trouble after a video of him applying lip-balm on the cricket ball surfaced on the internet. The video is from on-going third ODI between England and Australia. Smith can be clearly seen rubbing his lips and then gently applying it to the ball, as he was shinning it.

A Twitter user named Saad Siddiqui was quick to spot it. He shared the video on the micro-blogging side and captioned it, "Did Smith just apply his lip balm on the ball? Asking on behalf of other teams that face such scrutiny ???? #AUSvsENG."

Match-refree will surely take a look at this and there are chaces Smith may also face the fire. The MCC World Cricket Committee had already cleared that it is acceptable to “polish the ball provided no artificial substance is used”.

In December 2016, South African skipper Faf Du Plessis was found guilty in similar incident. He was fined 100% of his match fee by the International Cricket Council under its code of conduct after television footage emerged from the second Test against Australia in Hobart showing him applying sugared saliva from a mint in his mouth to the ball in an attempt to aid swing.
