WBBL: Stars win the Melbourne Derby in the Super Over

Amy Satterthwaite does MS Dhoni in a losing cause

Melbourne Stars won the toss and opted to bat. Despite a wonderful start, Stars managed to post 118-6 in 20 overs. Lizelle Lee remained the top scorer for the Stars, as middle order collapsed again. For Renegades, pick of the bowlers was Maitlan Brown, who finished with 1-17 in her four overs.

In reply, Renegades, lost an early wicket but Sophie Molineux and Claire Koski's 40-run partnership put Renegades in commanding position. But Alana King's incredible bowling brought Stars back in the game and Annabel Sutherland's back to back wickets had Renegades struggling.

Renegades struggled to keep up with the run rate late in the innings, and ended up needing seven runs to win off the last ball. Skipper Amy Satterthwaite, did a 'MS Dhoni' to level the score and took the game to a super over.

In the superover, despite smashing first ball for four, Renegades lost 4 wickets but thanks to a no ball, Renegades managed 10 of the superover.

In response, Stars failed to hit a boundary in Superover, but were able to level the score.

With the scores tied the game went to a count back, and Stars were able to take 2 points having hit more boundaries (9-8) in the game.
