India U-19 team coached by the legendary Rahul Dravid is having a terrific time in the ongoing ICC U-19 World Cup in New Zealand. Already qualified for the quarter-finals, Prithvi Shaw and company thrashed Zimbabwe on Friday (January 19) in their last Group B clash to keep their unbeaten run intact.

Even though the match pretty much one-sided, spectators got the worth of their money thanks to some jaw-dropping strokeplay executed by the Indian openers – Shubman Gill and Harvik Desai. Among the 23 boundaries hit by the Indian batsmen, one shot that grabbed everyone’s attention was that of Shubman’s short arm jab.

During his mesmerizing knock of 59-ball 90, the 18-year-old Gill nonchalantly hit the Zimbabwe fast bowler Nkosilathi Nungu over deep mid-wicket for half a dozen. Soon after the shot, cricket fans started drawing parallels between Shubman’s short arm jab with Indian senior team skipper Virat Kohli’s short-arm jab, played against England in the Pune ODI last year.

Earlier in the day Indian spinners ripped through Zimbabwe's batting line-up to bundle them out for a paltry total of 154. Left-arm spinner Anukul Roy was the leading wicket-taker for India with four wickets to his name.  Milton Shumba scored the most (36 off 59 balls) for Zimbabwe.

India U-19 captain and regular opener Prthivi Shaw did not start the innings and let other batsmen spend more time in the middle before the all-important quarterfinals.

"Bowlers again did a really good job, batsmen as well. The attitude and intensity on the field really matter for India. We want to continue this process going on," Shaw said at the post-match presentation.

"We are really looking forward to the quarters. We have got six days break before that, we will practice well and ensure we bring our 'A' game," he added.
