Not only BCCI but the entire nation is proud of Virat Kohli, says CK Khanna

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) acting president CK Khanna, on Friday, credited Virat Kohli’s fitness level for winning the prestigious Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy saying not only the board but the entire country is proud of Indian skipper.

Mr. Khanna told ANI, “Not only BCCI but the entire nation is proud of him. A lot of credits for this achievement goes to his fitness level and he is a living example for other cricketers to be as fit as him.”

On Thursday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced annual award winner of 2017, where Virat Kohli was adjusted ‘ICC Cricketer of the Year 2017’ award for which he won the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy, and One Day International Cricketer of the Year 2017, as well as, declared as the Captain of ICC’s Test and ODI team of the year 2017.

It was the second time when the 29-year-old crowned the world's best One Day International batsman, earlier he rewarded with the award in 2012. With ‘ICC Cricketer of the Year 2017’ honour, Kohli has become the only fourth Indian cricketer, player to win the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy since 2004.

During the qualification period from September 21, 2016, to the end of 2017, Virat Kohli amassed 2203 Test runs at an average of 77.80 including eight centuries, while 1818 runs in One Day cricket, including seven centuries at 82.63, and 299 T20I runs at a strike rate of 153.
