Sachin Tendulkar congratulates Virat Kohli for winning major honours at ICC Annual Awards 2017

Virat Kohli becomes the fourth Indian to win the prestigious Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy.

Cricket Icon –Sachin Tendulkar, on Thursday, lavished praises on India’s run machine –Virat Kohli for his latest accomplishment at the International Cricket Council (ICC) Annual Awards for 2017.

Indian skipper –Virat Kohli was adjusted ‘ICC Cricketer of the Year 2017’ award for which he won the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy, and One Day International Cricketer of the Year 2017, as well as, declared as the Captain of ICC’s Test and ODI team of the year 2017.

With ‘ICC Cricketer of the Year 2017’ honour, Kohli has also become the only fourth Indian cricketer to win the prestigious Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy after cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar (2010), Rahul Dravid (2004) and star spinner Ravichandran Ashwin (2016).

It was the second time when the 29-year-old crowned the world's best One Day International batsman, earlier he rewarded with the award in 2012.

Not only that, the dashing right-hander has also achieved something grand that was even beyond the legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar – reaching 900 points mark in the latest ICC Test rankings.

Yes! The Delhi lad becomes only the second Indian batsman after Sunil Gavaskar to reach the 900-point mark in the ICC Player Rankings for Test batsmen.

During the qualification period from September 21, 2016, to the end of 2017, Virat Kohli amassed 2203 Test runs at an average of 77.80 including eight centuries, while 1818 runs in One Day cricket, including seven centuries at 82.63, and 299 T20I runs at a strike rate of 153.

Although, it was not a surprise to anyone  Indian skipper won the big ICC awards, as Many and Tendulkar also believes that Kohli was worthy of that honour.

The master blaster went on his official Twitter handle to congratulate Kohli on his latest achievement. It will be definitely ecstatic for Kohli to receive praise from his Idol. Tendulkar’s post for Kohli reads, “No surprises there at all. You deserved it. Many congratulations, @imVkohli! #ICCAwards @ICC”
