Virat Kohli leads ICC ODI team of the year 2017 at ICC Awards; Rohit Sharma chosen as the opener

In a career defining achievement, Virat Kohli was chosen to lead the ICC ODI team of the year, to go with the captaincy of ICC Test team of the year.

Australia’s David Warner (1424 runs in 22 matches with 6 centuries) and India’s Rohit Sharma (1416 runs in 26 matches with 6 centuries and 51 sixes) are the openers of the ICC ODI team of the year 2017. India’s Virat Kohli (1818 runs in 31 matches), Pakistan’s Babar Azam (1232 runs in 21 matches), South African AB de Villiers (773 runs in 19 matches) and Quinton de Kock (1338 in 25 matches) are the players in the middle order of the ICC ODI team of the year 2017.

England's Ben Stokes (764 runs with 3 centuries and 16 wickets in 18 matches), Kiwi Trent Boult (45 wickets in 25 matches, with best of 7/34), Pakistan’s Hasan Ali (48 wickets in 21 matches), Afghanistan’s teenage leg spinner Rashid Khan (50 wickets in 19 matches with best of 7/18) and India’s Jasprit Bumrah (45 wickets in 27 matches) make up the rest of the ICC ODI team of the year 2017.

David Warner, Virat Kohli, Ben Stokes and Quinton de Kock are the only four players to be included in both the Test and ODI Team of the Year.
