India U19 produced an emphatic 100 runs win in their opening match of the ICC U19 World Cup 2018 against Australia U19 team at Mount Maunganui (New Zealand).

India U19 next play minnows Papua New Guinea (PNG) in the second match tomorrow and a win in the match will ensure their berth in the knockout stages of the tournament. Their last match of the group stage will be against Zimbabwe U19 and with the form they displayed against Australia U19; India U19 will be expected to make the knockouts easily.

India U19 batting stars Prithvi Shaw, Manjot Kalra and Shubman Gill showed why the three-time champions are favorites to win the title again this time. However, the biggest surprise came in form of the India U19 fast bowling unit, especially Shivam Mavi and Kamlesh Nagarkoti; both of whom bowled in excess of 145 kmph easily and impressed even the best of the cricket experts with their control and speed.

Papua New Guinea has qualified for their eighth World Cup after an undefeated run in the East Asia Pacific Qualifier in Samoa. PNG's last appearance in the World Cup came in 2014 in the United Arab Emirates.

India U19 will not be taking PNG lightly, as they have shown the tendency of causing upsets at a big event.
