When India U-19 boys were heading for their World Cup campaign in New Zealand, the buzz was totally surrounded around the classy batsmanship of skipper Prithvi Shaw – the 18-year-old Mumbai teenager –who has already piled up 5 First-Class hundreds in 9 matches. Besides Shaw, Manjot Kalra and Shubman Gill had also caught everyone’s eye.

On Sunday (January 14), in the Under-19 World Cup opener against Australia Prithvi (94 off 100 balls), Manjot (86 off 99 balls) and Shubman (63 off 54 balls) combined together to lay the foundation for India’s mammoth total of 328.

But it was Shivam Mavi and Kamlesh Nagarkoti’s fast and intimidating bowling which made everyone sit up and take notice of India’s next crop of speedsters. The pace duo claimed three wickets each as India opened their campaign with an emphatic 100-run victory.

Along with Ishan Porel, the teenage Indian pace trio consistently clocked over 145 kmph during their spells. The speed-gun once showed Mavi hit the 146 kmph mark while Nagarkoti neared 147 kph.

Seeing their bowling from the close quarters, legendary India skipper Sourav Ganguly was certainly left awe-struck as he took to Twitter and said that the duo of Mavi and Nagarkoti could well be the future prospect for India. The ‘Prince of Kolkata’ also tagged India skipper Virat Kohli in his tweet and told him to keep a close tab on them.

“@imVkohli @VVSLaxman281 @BCCI keep an eye on two under 19quicks ..mavi and nagarkotti ..bowling at 145 in newzealand ..brilliant ..” Ganguly tweeted.
