India’s legendary cricketer Rahul Dravid is celebrating his 45th birthday today (January 11). Fondly known as the ‘The Wall’ because of his watertight technique, Dravid is widely deemed as one of the greatest batsmen to have emerged out from India.

During the course of his 16-year long illustrious career, Dravid has amassed 13288 Test runs at an average of 52.31 with 36 hundreds and 63 fifties. He also holds the unique record of facing the maximum number of deliveries (31258) in the history of Test cricket.

Besides, Dravid also proved his mettle in the limited-overs format as he aggregated 10889 ODI runs in 344 matches at an average of 3916 with 12 centuries and 83 fifties.

A modern-day phenomenon, Rahul Dravid hanged up his boots from international cricket in 2012 but not before being ending up as the fourth highest run-getter in Test cricket behind Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting and Jacques Kallis.

As the revered cricketer enters in the 45th season of his life, wishes continue to pour in for him from the cricketing fraternity. Dravid is currently in New Zealand as a coach of the India U-19 team which will feature in the 12th edition of U-19 World Cup, starting on January 13.

In a video posted by BCCI on their official Twitter page, India U-19 boys led by Prithvi Shaw can be seen celebrating their coach’s birthday by smashing cake on his face and pouring champagne on his hair.

“#HappyBirthdayDravid. The Wall turns 45,” BCCI wrote in the video caption.
