New Zealand all-rounder –Jimmy Neesham has taken a sabbatical from the game of cricket to freshen up and built up his game, while he did not confirm his return date.

Neesham –One of New Zealand Cricket (NZC) Board or NZC's 21 contracted players for 2017-18, has not featured in any competitive game since December 2017.

It is learned that he is struggling with both bat and ball which forced Otago Volts coach Rob Walter to dropped him out for their December 27 Twenty20 Super Smash clash against Auckland in Alexandra.

Since then, the 27-year-old has been out of action in a bid to work out on his game. Now, the all-rounder is returning back to training and working on his game after two weeks off to catch the attention of the national selectors to make a return to national side through his domestic show.

As per Stuff.co.nz, Spokesman Callum Elder said, ‘NZC initially agreed Neesham would take a break from cricket to freshen up’, adding, “He is talking to Otago and they will work through a potential return.”

Meanwhile, NZ Coach Mike Hesson wants Neesham to work hard at the domestic circuit to find his rhythm in all department of the game.

Hesson concluded by saying, “We know Jimmy is a talented player, but we've spoken with him around improving the consistency in all areas of his game.”
