Indian U19 team started their U19 World Cup warm-ups on a winning note against South Africa U19.  Incidentally, the warm up tie between India U19 and South Africa U19 was the only match that was able to be played for full 50 overs a side in Christchurch.

Prithvi Shaw won the toss and decided to bat first and pout 54 runs for the loss of one wicket in the first 10 overs. However, A Mnyaka caused a mini collapse in the middle order by removing Manjot Kalra (31) and Shubman Gill (0) in quick succession, leaving India 61/3 in the 13th over.

But Aryan Juyal (86 off 92 balls; 8 fours, 1 six) and Himanshu Rana (68 off 69 balls; 8 fours and 1 six) added 131 runs for the 4th wicket to bring India back into the game. Abhishek Sharma (35 off 19 with 4 sixes) and AS Roy (28 off 21) provided last over fireworks to take India to 332/8 in 50 overs.

A Mnyaka was the pick of South African U19 bowlers picking 3/40.

Ishan Porel struck in quick succession during the SAU19 innings, removing the brass of their batting and leaving them 44/4 in the 11th over. Jean du Plessis hit 50 off 82 balls and J Pillay hit 29, while the rest of the batting collapsed under the pressure of Indian bowling.

Ishan Porel picked 4/23 and Kamlesh Nagarkoti picked 2/15; as India U19 wrapped the SAU19 for 143 in the 39th over to register a 189 runs win.
