Australia star batsman –Chris Lynn has been ruled out of the upcoming five-match One Day International series against England, starting with the first ODI at The MCG on January 14.

The right-hander sustained a calf injury on January 5 that forced him to take about 3-4 weeks break from the game of cricket, which means he will not return before 27 January, while the final of the One Day series is scheduled to play on January 28 at Edgbaston, in Birmingham, missing the whole ODI series.

The 27-year-old Lynn, who has had a long history of shoulder problems, injured his right calf while fielding for Brisbane Heat against the Perth Scorchers in the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) tournament.

Lynn, who made his T20I debut for Australia against England in 2014, has played only ODI last year against Pakistan, scoring 16 runs.

As per Cricket Australia (CA) official website, CA also confirmed that their batting superstar has been ruled out of the Gillette ODI Series with a calf injury, and he could make a return with the BBL match between Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Renegades on January 27.

Alex Kountouris –CA’s science and medicine manager said, “Chris initially left the field against the Scorchers complaining of tightness in his calf. He reported increasing discomfort over the 24 hours that followed and the Heat’s medical staff made the decision to send him for a scan. That scan confirmed the injury, which is expected to prevent him from playing for three to four weeks.”

Kountouris concluded by saying, “When Chris recovers, the expectation is that he will need to prove his fitness in match action before being considered again for international selection.”
