It was recently reported that Pakistan’s former captain and 1992 World Cup winner Imran Khan had married his spiritual guide Bushra Maneka, in a secret ceremony in Lahore.

However, Imran Khan has cleared the air about this report. Imran has admitted that he has indeed proposed marriage to Maneka, who has “asked for time to make a final decision after consulting her family, including her children.”

65 year old Khan, in a statement released by his spokesperson said, “It is indeed sad to see this extremely private and sensitive matter be made the subject of erroneous story leading to all manner of public conjecture. The notification added that it was “regrettable” that story was reported as it involves “a very private lady who is not in public life. This has put an acceptable burden especially on the children of Maneka and Khan who have had to learn of such a private and intimate issue from media.”

“If and when the proposal is accepted by Maneka for the marriage, Khan will announce it publicly in the proper manner. Till then we request the media to give the two families, especially the children, their privacy,” he added.

A Pakistani daily The News reported that PTI chairman married Maneka on January 1 in a private ceremony in Lahore. The marriage was performed by Mufti Saeed, a high ranking PTI member.

Imran had first married British Jemima Goldsmith on May 16, 1995 and got divorced in 2004. He then married TV anchor Reham Khan, who he divorced after 10 months in 2015.
