Indian Premier League (IPL) fever has already begun to spread around the cricket crazy nation, India, as the Player retentions for the upcoming 11th edition of the mega T20 league, created enough buzz after it was televised live on 4th January 2018.
As the last date of submission for the player retention was January 4 (Thursday), the IPL franchises have submitted the list of their star player for the next season.
While Delhi Daredevils became the first IPL franchise to unveil their player retentions, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) also scripted in retaining the services of their star players Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and young gun Sarfaraz Khan for the next edition of the IPL 2018.
As per TNN, Amrit Thomas –Chairman of RCB said in a statement, “For the 11th season of IPL, we are pleased to retain Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Sarfaraz Khan. Virat is the team's captain - on and off the field. The camaraderie and teamwork between Virat and AB de Villiers have been the backbone of the team for several seasons and we want to build on that.”
While commenting on Sarfaraz, whose name surprised everyone when RCB named his name as the third player in their chosen list of Players retention, Thomas believes he will rise to great heights.
He concluded by saying, “Sarfaraz is one of the players we believe will rise to great heights, not just in the IPL but in world cricket. We believe that together, Virat, AB de Villers and Sarfaraz embody the 'play bold and fearless' outlook that is inherent in RCB, and we are excited to retain them for IPL 2018.”
