The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday received a summoned notice from the Supreme Court as per which Bihar should be allowed to participate in Ranji Trophy and other national cricket championships.

“The order allowing Bihar to participate in national cricket championships passed keeping in view the cause of cricket,” the Supreme Court bench headed by Justice Dipak Misra said in a statement according Indian Express.

Besides, Justice A M Khanwikar and D Y Chandrachud were also there in the bench. Khanwikar and Chandrachud also made it clear that Bihar, which was not allowed to play national-level cricket tournaments by the Indian cricket board, must participate in competitive events.

The honourable Supreme Court added that Bihar Cricket Association (BCA), which was elected by an order given by the court, should be given the authority to be in-charge of the sport in the state. The apex court also clarified that BCA will not receive any sort of equities for the cause.
