Stuart Law –Head Coach of the West Indies side, on Thursday, defended struggling Chris Gayle, who is considered as one of the best T20 batsmen in the world, saying ‘there is plenty of cricket left in the big man’.

The swashbuckling West Indies opener criticizes by many cricket Pundits, suggesting Gayle’s international career may be over, after his disastrous show in New Zealand, scoring just 38 runs in his four innings in the limited overs’ series, but Law believes that he still has much to offer his country.

The Windies side was completely whitewashed by the Black Caps in their two-match Test series, the three-match One Day Internationals and T20 internationals, and Law said it was a pretty disappointing tour and the Caribbean need to do a lot of hard work, planning and understanding to come good in the near future.

The 38-year-old Gayle was outstanding in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), scoring 146 from 69 balls for Rangpur Riders in the final, but failed to replicate that in New Zealand.

As per Sport Star, Law said, “Right now it probably doesn’t look like it but there’s plenty of cricket left in the big man. He can destroy any attack, it doesn’t have to be a minnow. He’s central to the way this dressing room ticks and commands a lot of respect. He’s just got to start performing in the middle again.”

He concluded by saying, “He didn’t click in this series. He had a viral infection in the one-dayers and, while T20 is probably his best format, he didn’t get the starts he wanted. He’s played this game long enough. He knows how to do it. He was pretty good in England a few months ago.”
