Baroda selectors have been once again overlooked the veteran all-rounder Irfan Pathan for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy –a Twenty20 cricket domestic championship in India.

Previously, the talented player was dropped by Baroda for the recently concluded Ranji Trophy season 2017-18 despite his decent performance while leading the side.

Now, Deepak Hooda will lead the Baroda side in the T20 tournament organized by Indian Cricket Board (BCCI), which is scheduled to start from January 7 in Rajkot.

The Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) secretary –Snehal Parikh refused to talk about the omission of Irfan Pathan while speaking to Times of India recently.

Parikh said, “All the three play for Baroda U-19 team and have performed well. The selectors are in process of rebuilding the team and they believe in giving chance to performing youngsters.”

Yusuf Pathan is not part of the squad and Snehal reveals that Pathan was on medication and he had sent the prescription to the BCCI and about that he was informed the BCA.

The BCA secretary concluded by saying, “Yusuf was on medication and he had sent the prescription to the BCCI as is required according to the rules. He was advised to not play until January 10. He called up and informed us about it. So he has not been picked up for the T20 team.”

Baroda squad: Deepak Hooda (c), Atit Seth, Kedar Devdhar, Swapnil Singh, Vishnu Solanki, Dhiren Mistry, Krunal Pandya, Abhijeet Karambelkar, Shoeb Tai, Lukman Meriwala, Rishi Arothe, Dhruv Patel, Mohit Mongia, Ninad Rathwa, Urvil Patel
