The Vidarbha Cricket Association has declared a prize of Rs 3 crore to the winners of Ranji Trophy champions this year, on top of the cash prize of Rs 2 crore by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Vidarbha has created history on 1st January clinching their maiden Ranji Trophy title after defeating Delhi by nine wickets in the final that took place in Indore.
VCA President Anand Jaiswal said, “This is a great moment for Vidarbha cricket, and the association will give Rs 3 crore to the players.”
The CEO of BCCI also congratulated the current winners “Heartiest congratulations to Vidarbha on winning their first #RanjiTrophyFinal. Thank you MPCA for being such gracious hosts @BCCI,” Johri tweeted.
Acting president CK Khanna also responded, “It has been a tremendous performance by the Vidarbha team. I congratulate them on their stupendous show.”.
The low target of 29 runs was chased down by Vidarbha on Day 4 at the Holkar Stadium, Indore. The ground of Indore successfully hosted Ranji Trophy for the second time. Delhi had lost their opener Kunal Chandela on 32 runs, trailing by 252. Delhi team faced a bigger setback when they lost Gautam Gambhir who was given out to Rajneesh Gurbani.
