Bangladesh middle order batsman Sabbir Rahman has been slapped a six month by the board for his ill-treating and assaulting a fan in domestic cricket. Rahman has also been banned from the domestic cricket as well after his inhuman act.

The decision was taken following BCB president Nazmul Hasan's meeting with disciplinary committee vice-chairman Sheikh Sohel and BCB chief executive officer Nizamuddin Chowdhury. Sabbir regretted his action during the hearing but it failed to impress the BCB high-ups as he had other disciplinary issues, prompting the disciplinary committee to recommended strict action.

The incident took place on the second day of Rajshahi Division's National Cricket League game against Dhaka Metropolis when Sabbir lost his cool after a supporter 'made a noise' directed at Sabbir during one of the innings breaks. Sabbir reportedly took permission from the on-field umpires and confronted the young fan behind the sight screen, leading to a jostle.

"We had a discussion regarding Sabbir and our disciplinary committee members had taken a decision in this regard after completing the hearing and going through the report of the match referee," said Nazmul. "They recommended that he be removed from the central contract along with a six-month ban and fine of TK. 20 Lakhs.

"He is no more a centrally contracted player. They also recommended that it is his last chance and if he fails next time he will be banned for ever," added Nazmul, giving the ultimatum to the young batsman.

Previously senior Bangladesh batsman Tamim Iqbal was also fined for criticizing the Dhaka pitch.

"They [disciplinary committee] recommended fine of TK. 5 Lakhs for Tamim while they will also make warn him about it (his indiscretion). His words were quite embarrassing for us and it could have harmed our cricket a lot. So we think as a vice-captain he should be more careful while talking in front of the media," Nazmul said.
