After Sri Lanka has had a forgetful year in 2017, new SL coach Chandika Haturasingha pledges to start his new year with the start with toughness. He has set certain parameters and has made it compliance to follow for every player who is a part of the squad to start off the year. He has banned music while training while also demanding full control over team selection.

Asked about reports that players were admonished for listening to music in practice, Hathurusingha said after his first training session with the team on Thursday: "If they are interested in music they will have to go home."

"I need full control and responsibility to pick the playing eleven," Hathurusingha said.

“According to the sports law the coach can't get involved in selections. They are considering my request to be a selector while being the coach," added the 49-year-old.

"I want to see him make visits from time to time to work with the players," Hathurusingha said. Sri Lanka have been awfully bad this year losing as many as 40 international matches out of the 57 they played in total.

Hopefully, the new year and the new series gives them a winning start to look for greater success in the coming year. With Chandika Haturasingha in the lead, he will certainly look to get the team ready for 2019 World Cup.
