Kapil Dev –Former India and World Cup-winning captain, on Wednesday, claimed that the mindset of the modern era’s players have been constantly changing and with the effect, if the batters score 400 in One Day International cricket then it will not surprise him.

As per Sport Star, the legendary all-rounder told reporters on the sidelines of the Wonder Cement Saath7 Cricket Mahotsav Season 2 finale in Udaipur, “The biggest change today is in the mindset of the cricketers. Scoring a hundred off 35 balls was unheard of back in the day. Indian cricket commands respect from all quarters and the quality reflects the results – that's a big positive.”

Recently, Rohit Sharma slammed his third ODI double ton against Sri Lanka and Kapil Dev is confident that a day will come when individual batters will breach the magical mark of 300 in limited-overs cricket and maybe it will 400.

He further added, “Why not? Why only triple hundred, someday, you might see someone score 400 in ODI cricket because players have changed gears to suit the format. In the 1980s, teams used to make 280 at the end of day's play and today, they're racking up those runs in just 20 overs.”

On being asked about India’s chances in their tough Test and limited-overs tour of South Africa, Kapil is confident the Virat Kohli and his team will break the jinx by winning their maiden Test series in the rainbow nation.

Former Indian skipper further added, “Of course, India will do well overseas. We've got a good side and it will only get better with experience.”

On many occasions, Kohli is compared with batting legend Sachin Tendulkar, but Kapil refused to compare the players, saying it is like comparing apples and oranges. He concluded by saying, “Look, you can't compare the players. You can't say one is better than the other or vice-versa. If the next generation of stars isn't better than its predecessors, then the game won't move forward.”
