Virat Kohli and Steve Smith found place in Harsha Bhogle's Test XI of 2017

Renowned Indian cricket commentator and journalist Harsha Bhogle shared his Test XI of 2017 recently, considering the best performers of the year 2017.

Bhogle shared his team on Cricbuzz.com. His team looked well balanced and lethal, however, few names that missed the boat, surprised the fans. Kiwi skipper Kane Williamson and England captain Joe Root couldn't make the cut in Harsha's Test XI.

Dean Elgar, the South African opener had a memorable year with the bat. He piled up 1128* runs at an average of 54.85 in 21 innings. From India, Cheteshwar Pujara easily got featured in the XI, thanks to his 1140 runs at an average over 65.

Two high profile batsmen Steve Smith and Virat Kohli were expected to make the cut and Harsha didn't forget to pick them.

Steve Smith, who has set the cricketing world on fire with four double hundreds in 2017 and over 1000 runs in the year, was picked for the fourth position in batting order.

Virat was picked for the number five in the batting order. Before taking a month's rest, he scored consecutive double hundreds against Sri Lanka in Tests.

Talking about lower order, Bhogle got all-rounder Ben Stokes and wicket-Keeper Wriddhiman Saha in his XI. Saha is called one of the best stumpers in the world today.

Stokes, who missed the Ashes because of his off-field brawl in London pub some month's ago, features in the test XI because of his impressive performance throughout the year 2017.

Ravindra Jadeja and Nathan Lyon are the spin duo Harsha picked for his XI and the pace attack features English bowler James Anderson and emerging star pacer Kagiso Rabada.

Bhogle’s Test XI of the year:

Dean Elgar, David Warner, Cheteshwar Pujara, Steve Smith, Virat Kohli, Ben Stokes, Wriddhiman Saha, Ravindra Jadeja, Nathan Lyon, James Anderson and Kagiso Rabada.
