Azhar Mahmood banks on Pakistan’s bowling strength for success in New Zealand series

Pakistan will play 5 ODIs and 3 T20Is in January, 2018 against New Zealand in New Zealand.

Azhar Mahmood said Pakistan has good combination of spinners and pacers

Pakistan and New Zealand are all set to engage in a limited overs battle next year and Pakistan’s bowling coach Azhar Mahmood is banking on his team’s bowlers to deliver the goods against New Zealand.

Mahmood seemed to be unfazed by the injury concerns, but admits batting is the area of problem for the Pakistani team on the tough tour of New Zealand. He was quoted the Express Tribune recently and he said that the players are in good shape for the tour.

We have been training a lot and the players are in good shape and fit. They know they have to go to New Zealand and perform well for which they have prepared well. Pakistan batting has always struggled when they go out of subcontinent and the pitches of New Zealand are not easy, neither their weather conditions….The venues where we will be playing have a lot of wind which will make it difficult for the bowlers, but it will be interesting to see how our bowlers adjust to the conditions there,” quoted Azhar Mahmood.

Mahmood said that the strength of his team was a combination of good pacers and spinners, who can take advantage of the situations and pitches in New Zealand.

We have a good combination of pacers and spinners. Bowling has always been our strength and it will be our strength in New Zealand too. Although we have won the Champions Trophy, we cannot take New Zealand lightly. They have a number of match-winners, so we have to be on our toes till the end of every match,” Mahmood quoted.

We will have to maintain the winning momentum and to do that, we have to let go of complacency. Our bench gives us strength since we have a suitable replacement for all players,” he added further.
