Indian sports journalist Boria Majumdar recently disclosed Indian former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar's expertizes in wine. Majumdar is a good friend of Indian cricketing great. He has written the foreward in Sachin's autobiography 'Playing It My Way'.
He shared the story in a Christmas special short film shot in Bengali known as ‘Foodka’. Majumdar while on the show said, “I have an interesting story involving wine. My dear friend the great Mr. Tendulkar is a wine connoisseur,” he said.
He also added that how Sachin surprised him by taking him to the underground tunnel of St. John’s College which is a wine cellar.
“Once in Oxford, England, he told me: ‘If you come to St. John’s, then I can give you a great experience’. His daughter [Sara Tendulkar] used to study in Oxford then. I asked, ‘What experience?’ He said, ‘come, I’ll take you. n the basement of the St John’s College, there’s an underground tunnel which is almost one km long and that full is a wine cellar. They bottle their own wine and there were 180,000 bottles of wine at that point of time. Sachin was blown,” Boria recalled an old but interesting story about the Master himself.
Recently, Sachin, who is also a Rajya Sabha MP, was not allowed to speak about his vision on the future of sports in India and ‘right to play’ in the Upper House of the Parliament.
Though, Sachin had a special moment there when MP Jaya Bachchan requested him to autograph a miniature bat.
