The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently announced the India squad for the ODI series against South Africa. Veteran cricketers like Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina were again excluded from the 17-man squad to the rainbow nation.

Both the southpaws had cleared the mandatory Yo-Yo fitness test which is the basic requirement to be in the Indian team. However, they still couldn't make it to the upcoming South Africa tour. The chief selector MSK Prasad revealed reasoned out why the duo was not considered for the South African ODI leg.

As per Sportskeeda, Prasad said that lack of cricket in recent time has cost the two players their place in Indian team.

"With Yuvraj Singh, there were also the fitness issues. I am happy that he has cleared that fitness test. Since he has not played cricket for quite some time, let him have a good match time. We will definitely see him in the times to come," said MSK Prasad after the squad for the T20I series against Sri Lanka was picked.

Yuvraj Singh has not played much cricket; in fact, he played only one match because of working on fitness. On the other hand, In the 12 innings Raina played in this Ranji Trophy season, he could get only 105 runs at a poor average of 11.66 with his highest score being just 33.
