Australian coach Darren Lehmann has confirmed that he will not seek a contract renewal after his current deal expires in 2019.

He said that the next Ashes series in England in 18 months time will be his last international assignment. Australia will also be defending their World Champions crown in World Cup 2019 in England before the Ashes.

"It will be a case of too much time, too much travel. That will be it," Lehmann said when asked whether he will seek a new contract beyond 2019.

Darren Lehmann took the charge of the Australian team after Mickey Arthur was sacked following a disastrous and highly controversial India tour of 2013. Australia went on to climb new heights as they won the World Cup in 2015; won two Ashes and lost two Ashes under the helm of Lehmann.

"For me, I've really enjoyed the role and loving it. We'll just get to that point and work out what we do from there,” Lehmann said.

Justin Langer, former Australian opener, who has outstanding record at Western Australia and the Perth Scorchers, will be the favorite to replace  Lehmann as the national coach.
