Ronsford Beaton, the Windies pacer, was reported for a suspect bowling action during the second ODI against New Zealand in Christchurch on Saturday. Interestingly this is his debut series for West Indies and in his very first series, he has been charged with suspect bowling action.

According to ICC "where the Player's Elbow Extension exceeds 15 degrees, measured using the Standard Analysis Protocols from the point at which the bowling arm reaches the horizontal until the point at which the ball is released. Any Elbow Hyperextension shall be discounted for the purposes of determining an Illegal Bowling Action”.

West Indies has other concerns to address as well which is keeping their head coach Stuart Law thinking. They missed Chris Gayle in the second game who was ill and also Kesrick Williams didn’t play due to the hamstring injury. Now although Beaton will play the third match, the reporting of his action will play on his minds which will eventually affect his performance. In the first two games of his ODI career, he has already conceded 102 runs in 17 overs picking just one wicket.

Windies are still winless in their tour of New Zealand, having lost the two Tests and the two ODIs so far. As per the ICC rules, Beaton can continue bowling until the test results of his action are available, which means he can participate in the third and final ODI in Christchurch on December 26.
