The Shahid Afridi foundation organized a 10-over charity match in Faisalabad on Sunday (December 24) wherein Babar Azam and Shoaib Malik put on quite an exhibition with the bat. After being tonked for 6 consecutive sixes in an over by the experienced campaigner Malik, Azam got his revenge during the run chase as he compiled a 26-ball hundred that included eleven sixes and seven boundaries.

SAF Red powered by Malik’s 20-ball 84 (retired) and Fakhar Zaman’s 23-ball 76 posted 201/1 in their quota of 10 overs. However, Babar’s effort proved to be too good for the Red’s as SAF Green won the contest by 8 wickets with 2 balls to spare. Fittingly, the skipper and the man behind the match – Shahid Afridi hit the winning runs for SAF green with a boundary over extra cover.

Since his international debut in May 2015, Babar has been doing wonders in limited-overs cricket. No wonder, Pakistan's coach Mickey Arthur had compared him with India’s star batsman Virat Kohli earlier this year.

In 36 ODIs thus far, Azam has amassed 1758 runs at a phenomenal average of 58.60 with 7 hundreds and as many fifties to his name. When it comes to the shortest format, the 23-year-old has scored 468 T20I runs in 14 matches at an impressive average of 46.80 with 2 fifties.
