Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is on a verge to set a new record for India. Chahal has cemented his place in the Indian limited over side. His wrist spin has pulled many matches in India's favor lately.

Even on the batsmen dominating tracks, the Indian leggie somehow finds a way to trouble the strikers. Though, sometimes he takes time to adjust, but once adjusted, batsmen stand no chance against the 27-year-old.

India will be playing Sri Lanka in the third and final T20I at Mumbai. Chahal needs just two wickets to reach the most impressive bowling figures by an Indian bowler in a T20 series.

Ashwin had picked 9/35 against Sri Lanka in 2016, Chahal, who is leading wicket-taker of 2017 in T20I with 23 wickets has picked 8/75 in this series.

Other than being highest wicket-taker for India in a T20I series, Chahal can also leave Saeed Ajmal behind for being the highest wicket-taker in a calendar year.

Ajmal has a record of 25 T20I wickets in 2012. Three wickets for Chahal in this game and he can go past Ajmal’s tally.

Chahal is way ahead of his competitors for being highest wicket-takers of the shortest format in 2017. He stands at number one, with Rashid Khan (17 wickets), Kesrick Williams (17 wickets), Shadab Khan (14 wickets) and Imran Tahir (14 wickets) following him.

Yuzvendra Chahal may be leaving Ashwin behind, but recently in the press conference, he stated that there is no comparison between him and the veterans. “Ashwin and Jadeja have done so much in the last 5-6 years. We have played only for four-five series. If you start comparing now itself to them, it will not be right. We have played most of our games in India, one series in Sri Lanka where conditions were similar to India. We have not played much overseas,” Chahal said.
