Samuel Badree, who is widely deemed as one of the better leg-spinners in contemporary cricket, has revealed his top 5 leggies in the world at the moment. Having played T20 leagues all around the globe, the 36-year-old Badree has gained plethora of experience and has the privilege of playing with or against some of the best in the business.

In the Indian Premier League, the West Indian spinner has played for Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore while he represented Islamabad United and Brisbane Heats in the Big Bash League. Besides, Badree also plays in the Caribbean Premier League and Bangladesh Premier League.

In his interview with Cricinfo, Samuel Badree spoke about the art of leg-spin in modern-day cricket, the leading leg-spinners and the most challenging batsmen he had come up against.

“I think Imran Tahir is up there as one of the best. There’s Kuldeep Yadav from India, who has done really well in the IPL. He is someone who has been successful throughout the world. Brad Hogg, even at the age of 40, has been exceptional. He has done well in the Big Bash,” Badree was quoted by ESPNCricinfo as saying.

“I must include Sunil Narine, although you said legspinner. He is a genius. There’s one more: Rashid Khan – he is really good. He is so young, he has so much potential. No batsman in the world seems to have got the better of him as yet. It is early stages in his career, he will need to develop some more variety as batsmen get more familiar with him. But he has tremendous potential,” he added.

On being asked about the toughest batsmen he had to bowl to, Badree named two of his team-mates in the list while the other two were explosive Australian opening batsmen.

“In the West Indies, Chris Gayle, obviously. David Warner has been really difficult to bowl at. This might sound strange but Sunil Narine had the better of me twice. He knows all my tricks. Aaron Finch is the right-hander that I find difficult,” concluded Samuel Badree.
