Franchises are getting ready for the mega-auction of IPL 2018. But before going into the auction, they will have to submit the names of retained players.

Rajasthan Royals, who are now back after serving a 2-year ban sought help from their fans to shortlist players worth retaining for the upcoming season. They conducted a poll of few selected players and asked fans to express their opinion on them; whether they should be retained or not?

From among their players who played for RPS and GL, they get to pick from the likes of Ajinkya Rahane, Steven Smith, James Faulkner, Dhawal Kulkarni and Rajat Bhatia for either retention or get them through Right to Match (RTM) policy.

Out of 2 thousand votes, 85% of voters were in favor of retaining Australian skipper Steve Smith.

Other than Smith, Indian batsman Ajinkya Rahane and Aussie all-rounder James Faulkner was retained by the fans. On the other hand, veteran cricketers Rajat Bhatia and pacer Dhawal Kulkarni couldn't make the cut; with 37 and 43 percent of votes in their favor, respectively.
