BCCI appoints former India stumper Saba Karim as General Manager, Cricket Operations

BCCI has appointed former India, Bengal and Bihar wicket-keeper turned commentator Saba Karim as the General Manager, Cricket Operations.

Karim will join the post on January 1, 2018 and will report to Rahul Johri, CEO of BCCI. The post of GM, Cricket Operations was vacant since the resignation of late MV Sridhar.

According to a statement issued by the BCCI, some of the major responsibilities of Karim include giving strategic direction to the cricket department, implementing the operational plans, budgeting, determining and monitoring the compliance of match playing regulations, standards of venues, administration of Domestic Program.

Karim has played one Test and 34 ODIs for India from 1997-2000, before an eye injury ended his career. Karim later turned to cricket commentary and also performed in the role of national selector from East Zone.
