Andrew Tye, the Western Australia fast bowler has created a history by taking his third hat-trick of 2017 – and second in the Big Bash League (BBL). Playing for Perth Scorchers, the 31-year-old paceman recorded the figures of 4-21 in his 3.1 overs as the Sydney Sixers were bundled out for 132 at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday (December 23).

Tye wrapped up the innings by ripping through the Sixers' dangerous looking tail. He got rid of Sean Abbott (23 off 13) and Steve O'Keefe (23 off 18) in the first two deliveries of 19th over before completing his hat-trick with a dubious LBW decision going his way. Tail-ender Daniel Sams was his third victim.

Here is the video of Andrew Tye's hat-trick:

Chasing the paltry target of 133, Scorchers won the contest by 6 wickets with 11 balls to spare. Ashton Turner scored an unbeaten 52 off just 27 balls and was adjudged Man of the Match.

Apart from India’s leg-spinner Amit Mishra, Tye is the only bowler in the world and notably the first pacer to have claimed three hat-tricks in Twenty20 cricket. In the last edition of BBL, he recorded his first against the Brisbane Heat before the right-armer took the Indian Premier League (IPL) by storm with a hat-trick on his debut match for the Gujarat Lions against Rising Pune Supergiants.

Tye has scalped 12 wickets in the cash-rich IPL at an impressive average and economy rate of 11.75 and 6.71 respectively. As far as Andrew Tye’s international credentials are concerned – he has represented Australia in 7 T20Is, wherein he scalped 6 wickets with the best bowling figures of 3 for 37.
