The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday confirmed that the Australian women's team will tour India to play a three-match ODI series in March 2018. The series will be played as a part of the ICC Women's Championship (2017-2020), which is used to determine the qualification for the Women's Cricket World Cup.

The BCCI also announced a Twenty-20 International tri-series involving India, Australia and England. While the ODI series will take place from March 12 to March 18 in Baroda, the T20I tri-series will begin on March 22. Mumbai will host all the fixtures of the tri-series, with the final slated to be played on April 3.

"The Australian Women's Cricket Team will travel to India in March 2018 to take part in three ODIs against Indian Women's Cricket Team as part of the ICC Women's Championship (2017-2020). Prior to the ODI series, Australia Women will play two one-day warm-up matches against India A in Mumbai,” the BCCI said in a media release.

“After the completion of the ODI series, a T20I Tri-Series featuring India Women, Australia Women and England Women will be held at the Brabourne Stadium (CCI) in Mumbai," the press release further added.

Indian women’s cricket team led by Mithali Raj made the whole country proud with their spectacular showings in the 2017 ICC Women's World Cup. Even though the eventual result was a bit heartbreaking as the ‘Women in Blue’ couldn’t quite hold their nerves and lost the final agonizingly to England by 9 runs, but the greeting which they received upon their arrival in the homeland was awe-inspiring, to say the least.
