Graeme Smith feels Virat Kohli will be motivated to do better in 2018

Team India will be looking forward to meeting South Africa next year in a three Test, 6 ODIs and 3 T20Is series. The series between the top two ranked Test teams will provide immense entertainment to lovers of Test cricket and will prove which team is better.

The onus of leading India to glory will be on Captain Virat Kohli’s shoulders. He has had a wonderful year in 2017 and will want to carry the same form forward in the New Year against South Africa. Former South African skipper Graeme Smith also agreed with this theory.

Quoted by IBTimes, Smith said, “I think that is the next challenge for this Indian team under Kohli. They have won a lot of series in the subcontinent and if they want to go up to be one of the top teams of this generation, they will have to do well in South Africa.

Smith felt that Virat will be highly motivated in 2018 to better his record of 2017, where he was the highest run getter across all the three formats of international cricket.

I know for sure that Virat will be hugely motivated to have a big year. If they can go on to have a 2018 where they win in South Africa, England and Australia, that will put this Indian team in an iconic place,” mentioned Smith.
