In a strange series of events, as many as 44 players including men and women have been fined with slow over rates already in the ongoing season of the Big Bash League.  In the men's competition - Sydney Sixers and Melbourne Stars - and women's competition - Melbourne Renegades and Adelaide Strikers - have been fined for slow over rates.

All the four teams were deemed one over short in their respective games, resulting in fines of $1000 to each of the men's player and $250 to all the Playing XI players in the women's sides. However, in case the players accept the penalty without appeal, their fines would be halved.

Respective captains of Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Stars, Moises Henriques and John Hastings have been fined for their franchises. Same is the case for the WBBL captains - Adelaide Strikers' Suzie Bates and Melbourne Renegades' Amy Satterthwaite.

Brisbane Heat skipper Brendon McCullum was penalized for erring in keeping up the over-rate and was handed a one-match suspension last season.
