Tendulkar's close association with his second adopted village "Donja"

Donja is the second village adopted by Sachin Tendulkar under Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana. .

Cricket legend and Rajya Sabha member Sachin Tendulkar has once again won millions of hearts by adopting another village in Osmanabad under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY).

The legendary Indian batsman, on Tuesday, paid his visit to the tiny Donja village in Osmanabad district of Marathwada, Maharashtra to review the status of several project in the village.

Tendulkar along with Osmanabad collector R. V. Game reviewed the progress of the works to be done under 4 crore rupees, which he has sanctioned under the MPLAD (Member of Parliament Local Area Development) funds for the village, which includes construction of a water tank with direct pipelines to the homes of the villagers for giving them access to drinking water, construction of a new school building, and concrete roads along with a sewage system in Donja.

In his short visit to Donja, he received a hero's welcome and showered with love and affection, which ho overwhelmed Tendulkar, saying he "left a piece of my heart in Donja.

As per IANS, Tendulkar said, “My visit to Donja has been a heart-warming one filled with promise and hope. Many miles we've gone towards building a better life for the villagers and many more to goa but this is a great step in the right direction.”

During his half-day trip of Donja, Tendulkar attended a function and felicitated the children and women of the village for various activities, and interacted with a group of aged women, as well as played cricket with the schoolboys of Donja, which is the second village adopted by him after Puttamraju Kandriga in Andhra Pradesh under the SAGY scheme.
