IND v SL 2017: MS Dhoni goes back to his vintage self in an entertaining knock in first T20I

India defeated Sri Lanka by 93 runs in the first T20I at Cuttack.

MS Dhoni scored 39* off 22 balls

People have said many things about MS Dhoni in recent past. Things like he has lost his hitting prowess, he should be given time to set himself up, he is no longer fit for the T20 format and should give up the format to prolong his career until the 2019 World Cup.

But he repelled all the rumors about his waning powers after his amazing knock of 39 runs in just 22 balls. He smashed a six off the last ball of the innings to bring back memories of all his finished for Indian team in his prime.

Team India posted a photo of MS Dhoni hitting Thisara Perera for a six off the last ball with caption “BOOM ???? how good was that last ball six from @mahi7781 #TeamIndia #INDvSL

Rohit Sharma, India’s stand-in skipper said that the team management has decided to play MS Dhoni at no.4 in order to give him that extra time to settle down before unleashing those big shots. "MSD (Dhoni), he's just class. No. 4 really paid off. He's played so many games for us, won so many games for us and moving forward, we feel making him bat at No. 4 is ideal," Rohit said.

Rohit continued, "For a long period of time, MS has been finishing games off, but we want him to bat freely now, without that pressure. We were not sure what the ideal score would be, with dew and the wicket playing weirdly. So I thought 180 was a great effort."
