Sourav Ganguly not worried about Ajinkya Rahane’s current wretched form

Ajinkya Rahane scored just 17 runs in five innings against Sri Lanka.

Sourav Ganguly felt this bowling attack will take 20 wickets if batsmen put up runs against South Africa

Ajinkya Rahane didn’t have the best of the Test series against Sri Lanka recently. Just 17 runs in 5 innings at home against an opposition like Sri Lanka, is something that you don’t see from Rahane, but it has happened and it has put a question mark over his place in the squad for South Africa tour.

But he has got one supporter in Sourav Ganguly, who is adamant that no one should be worried about Rahane’s form.

"No, I don't think Ajinkya Rahane's form is a concern as he is a quality player. Virat Kohli, Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara and Murali Vijay have all been to South Africa. The best thing is that they are going back to South Africa as better players," Ganguly said.

Ganguly was also hopeful of the Indian bowling lineup that will travel to South Africa in 2018.

"We will find out if this is the best bowling attack or not. They have got pace for sure. Umesh has pace, Bhuvneshwar is in good form, so let's wait," he said.

Ganguly is also in favor of Hardik Pandya batting at no.6 in South Africa, something the experts are not so keen on doing thanks to his sketchy technique and pitches full of bounce. But Ganguly said, "You will not realise till you give Hardik a chance. Depends on how you want to go about it.

"Rohit Sharma did well in the two chances that he got. If it's a flat track, maybe we should have that extra fast bowler in the XI but if it's a green top, we should definitely have an extra batsman," he opined.

"India are a good team but it won't be easy that much I can tell you. If the batsmen put up runs on the board, this attack can get wickets," he concluded when asked about India’s chances against the Proteas..
