Australian all-rounder Moises Henriques is all set to make a comeback to the game of Cricket, as he has been appointed Captain of the Sydney Sixers franchise for the upcoming season 2017-18 of the Big Bash League (BBL).

He sustained a groin injury during a net practice session ahead of the last Sheffield Shield game for New South Wales, and now the 30-year-old fully recovered from the injury and ready to play.

The versatile right-hander, who has played his last Test in 2016 against Sri Lanka and only 4 Tests, scoring 164 runs at an average of 23.42, is looking to earn back his Test spot in the Australian side by giving his best in the next BBL.

Although, Henriques is well aware of the fact that he needs to have plenty of runs to his names to once again catch the attention of the national selectors to back into the national Test team. He is also excited to return to BBL and with the prospect of leading Sydney Sixers in the tournament.

Speaking to cricket.com.au, Henriques said, “I’d love to go out and score enough runs and almost take it out of the selectors’ hands. You don’t want it to be a 50-50 decision for the selectors on who to pick, you want to go out there and play well enough to own the selection. Sort of forces them to pick you. If I had been batting as well as I’d like I feel I would have been in the frame.”

Henriques concluded by saying, “I definitely felt close going into the Shield season and felt my performance last year justified that as well, so I need to repeat some good performances and keep playing well. I definitely feel like I’ve got the cricket in me to play Test cricket again.”
