Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has rejected the request of Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) to shift their base from Mohali to some other city. Kings had written to BCCI citing the lack of support from the Punjab Cricket Association and constant disagreements with the local authorities which has compelled them to demand this move.

The franchise also couldn't make much money from tickets collection in Mohali. They had faced the issue since long. This issue has prompted the KXIP owners to shift their base from Mohali to Pune.

Things might have gone KXIP's way but a couple of governing council members intervened.

As per Times of India reports, The officials of BCCI cited that the valuation for shifting their base would be tough to calculate and therefore charging the Kings XI a few extra crore as franchise fee won't be a reasonable idea. They added that the BCCI rules only permitted Kings XI to play four of their home games in Mohali while they could play the rest of their home matches in some other venues.

With IPL GC finally deciding that the franchisee base can't be shifted out, the Kings would now have to rely on Mohali again this year.
