Makhaya Ntini's son included in South Africa's U-19 World Cup Squad

The U-19 World Cup will commence on January 13, 2018.

Former Proteas fast bowler Makhaya Ntini's son Thando Ntini has been named in the country's 15-member squad for the upcoming U-19 World Cup in New Zealand. The 16-team event will commence on January 13 and will culminate on February 3, 2018.

The junior Ntini has scalped 10 wickets in eight youth one-dayers recently and will participate in his first U-19 World Cup. Raynard van Tonder has been shouldered with the responsibility to lead the side.

Wicketkeeper Wandile Makwetu is the only player in the squad who will feature in his second World Cup. The 18-year-old was part of the national team in the 2016 edition of U-19 World Cup in Bangladesh as well.

South Africa are slotted in Group ‘A’ along with teams like New Zealand, West Indies and Kenya. The Proteas will open their campaign against Kenya on January 14 in Lincoln followed by matches against defending champions West Indies and hosts New Zealand on January 17 and January 20 respectively.

Raynard van Tonder (Captain), Matthew Breetzke, Jean du Plessis, Jason Niemand, Gerald Coetzee, Jade de Klerk, Fraser Jones, Wandile Makwetu, Andile Mogakane, Kgaudise Molefe, Thando Ntini, Jiveshen Pillay, Hermann Rolfes, Kenan Smith, Akhona Mnyaka.
