Dwayne Bravo confirms that he will no longer play international cricket for West Indies

Bravo last played ODIs for WI in 2014, Tests in 2010 and T20Is in 2016.

Dwayne Bravo has ruled out international cricket return for WI

Former Windies captain Dwayne Bravo has confirmed that his future now lies in playing for various T20 leagues around the world and that he has closed doors on a return to the national side.

34 year old Bravo is currently in Sharjah to play in the inaugural T-10 league. He returned to cricket after a lengthy recuperation period from a hamstring injury he suffered in BBL in December 2016.

Bravo had last played for West Indies against Pakistan in the T20I series in September last year and said to ESPNCricinfo, I am looking at these tournaments as a chance to continue playing cricket. As long as I can play cricket, I am happy. As far as internationals are concerned, I have been dropped from the West Indies team.

I was dropped while I was fit. I don’t think now, at 34, it would make any sense coming back. I just need to see what is left for me, for my fans to see Dwayne Bravo playing cricket. That is my priority,” he added.

Bravo has not played Test cricket since 2010 and last played an ODI for West Indies in 2014.

He talked about his injury that made him miss the IPL 2017, “I didn’t play for nine months. That is a lot. I missed the game and I have to be careful now. Playing BPL, we made it to the semi-finals. Unfortunately, we didn’t make it all the way through, but I am happy to be playing again.

Bravo bagged two wickets by conceding just 12 runs on day two in Sharjah as his side Maratha Arabians secured their first win in the competition against Team Sri Lankan Cricket.
