IND vs SL 2017: Lasith Malinga rested from Sri Lanka’s T20I squad

Malinga recently featured in the Bangladesh Premier League for Rangpur Riders.

Sri Lanka’s ace pacer Lasith Malinga has not been picked in the national T20I team that will play three-match series against India, commencing December 20.

Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera approved the list which states that Malinga has been rested. However, no reasons were cited behind the rest. Recently, the veteran speedster has featured in the Bangladesh Premier League for Rangpur Riders franchise.

Besides Malinga, senior players like Suranga Lakmal and Lahiru Thirimanne have been rested. Vishwa Fernando and Dasun Shanaka have been named in the squad as their replacement.

The T20I series will start at Cuttack on December 20. Indore and Mumbai will host the second and third matches on December 22 and 24 respectively.
