Rohit Sharma's second marriage anniversary just got better with India's stand-in skipper's third double century on Wednesday. Rohit dedicated the milestone to his wife Ritika Sajdeh Sharma.

“I’m happy my wife is here with me on this special day. I know she would have liked this gift from me. She has been my strength. She has always been there for me. You go through so much stress in this sport, and having them around is always special,” Rohit said at the post-match press conference.

Sharma’s unbeaten 208 steered the hosts to an imposing 392-4 and then restricted Sri Lanka to 251-8 to level the three-match series at 1-1 in Mohali.

Rohit and Ritika married in 2015. Before getting hitched, they already knew each other for good six years. Ritika is a sports event manager and she used to take care of Rohit’s cricket engagements as his manager.

“This is our second anniversary, but more than that, we won the game. We were determined to do the right things in the middle, and right till the end we did that. As a group, we are looking forward to Vizag,” he said.

Rohit, who hit his third double century in ODI helped India to secure the 2nd ODI against Sri Lanka by 141 runs. He became the first batsman to hit three double tons. He smacked 12 sixes and 13 fours in his 153-ball stay at the crease.

Sharma reached 200 in the 50th over, bowled by opposition skipper Thisara Perera. His first hundred came off 115 balls, and his second off just 38 balls.
