Cricket calendar has experienced a historic change as one of the most lucrative sporting properties i.e. the Indian Premier League (IPL) will now have a bilateral-free window for nearly two months. As per the Future Tours Programme (2019-23), no international cricket will take place when the IPL fever will go on.

If the reports in Cricinfo are to be believed, the Indian Premier League has been included in the FTP along with the respective bilateral series and ICC events. It is learnt that BCCI has presented a revised FTP during ICC’s two-day meeting in Singapore which stated that the cash-rich league will be played from late March to May, and only two relatively small series' might coincide in that period.

Ever since the start of IPL in 2008, quite a lot of foreign players have been drawn in by the money and didn’t shy away from skipping international assignments. According to the ICC documents, the IPL 2018 will start from 4th April and will end by 27th May.

The dates for subsequent five seasons are as follows:

IPL 2019 – 3rd April to 26th May

IPL 2020 – 1st April to 31 May

IPL 2021 – 31st March to 30th May

IPL 2022 – 30th March to 29th May

IPL 2023 – 29th March to 28th May

The documents also revealed that the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup will commence just four days after the IPL, and the final for which will be held on 14th July. Moreover, Australia will host 2020 T20I World Cup, which would be held from 24th October to 15th November.

India has been given the responsibility to host 2021 ICC Champions Trophy in addition to the 2023 World Cup. While the ICC Champions Trophy will be played from 21 October to 14 November, the World Cup will take place from 9 February to 26 March.
