Indian cricket team is doing reasonably well in limited-overs cricket lately, but their hunt for a good left-arm fast bowler is still on. No wonder, the lanky Punjab paceman Barinder Sran was called in for Team India nets in Mohali on Tuesday (December 12).

The left-arm pacer, who made his international debut against Australia at Perth in January 2016, has represented India in six ODIs and two T20Is thus far. Injuries haven’t helped Sran’s cause either as the 25-year-old has not been in the national reckoning this year (2017).

Amidst all the unpleasant news, Barinder felt good after bowling to the national batsmen in the nets. In fact, India’s legendary wicket-keeper batsman MS Dhoni was delighted to see Sran bowl at him during the practice sessions.

“Mahi Bhai played well against Sri Lanka in Dharamshala. He was not defensive but watchful. It was exciting to bowl at him in the nets. I mixed up my deliveries and bowled with variations,” Sran was quoted by Hindustan Times as saying.

“Knee and shoulder Injuries have affected my career. The recovery is a bit slow in such injuries. Mahi Bhai was impressed with the way I bowled to him,” added the left-armer.

It was India’s chief coach Ravi Shastri who enquired about Sran as he asked Siddharth Kaul, who’s in the ODI squad to contact the Punjab speedster.

“Shastri Sir also enquired about my stint with Punjab this season. I could play just three matches in the ongoing Ranji Trophy. Now my focus is on the Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mustaq Ali Tournament. A comeback to the Indian team is on my mind,” revealed Sran.

“The Sri Lankan pacers used the conditions to their advantage in Dharamshala. The team bowling first had the advantage and put pressure on the batting side,” added the pacer.

Barinder also gave his viewpoint on the conditions and made it clear that the team bowling first will have an edge.

“The Mohali ground will also have similar conditions. The team bowling first will definitely have an edge due to the moisture present in the air. The batsmen will have to apply and be watchful. The dew might trouble the bowlers in the evening,” concluded Sran.
