The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on Wednesday, announced that the Virat Kohli-led Indian Cricket Team will travel to Ireland next year in June for two matches ahead of their England tour for a full series in July 2018.

Although, the schedule is yet to be decided but the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) wants one One-Day International and one T20 International, while Ireland wishing to hosts back-to-back T20s on consecutive days. The venue for the matches also not announced but it is likely to be Malahide.

On Monday, BCCI announced Future Tours Programme (FTP) of India for the period of 2019 to 2023 and according to the new schedule, Virat Kohli and his Team will play a total of 158 international matches, including 37 Tests, 67 ODIs, and 54 T20Is.

The Indian Board have proposed the Ireland tour at the ICC Chief Executives' meeting in Singapore and the national team have also approved the Ireland schedule.

Both teams Ireland and India have previously met in a one-off One Day affair in the 2007, 2011 and 2015 world cups with India winning on all 3 occasions.

With the latest development, the Indian community in the Irish country will be exciting to see their cricketing stars playing in front of them. It will certainly strengthen the relations between the two nations and Ireland hopefully will play against India in the five-day format of the game as well.
